PROJECT CHOICES (DCFS)
Project Choices serves youth (female and male) for whom The Department of Children and Family Services is legally responsible, who live in a nine county area in central Illinois and meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Pregnant youth
- Parenting youth who is the caregiver for her/his children
- Parenting youth who is not the caregiver for her/his child(ren), but is interested in pursuing an active role in parenting.
The nine counties covered by the Project Choices program are:
- McLean
- Livingston
- Dewitt
- Macon
- Logan
- Champaign
- Ford
- Iroquois
- Piatt
Referrals to the Project Choices program are to be made by the primary DCFS or POS caseworker. The Project Choices worker meets weekly with their clients and assists and supports them in achieving goals in the following areas:
- Education
- Employmnet
- Vocational Training
- Medical/Health Care
- Child Care
- Counseling
- Parenting Training
- Working with the Fathers
