Statement of Beliefs

The Baby Fold’s Christian heritage and the professional standards for the services that we provide form the foundation for The Baby Fold’s beliefs.

The Baby Fold is a member of the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries and maintains a covenantal agreement with the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. United Methodist traditions, theology and social conscience call us to enact the Christian principles to love our neighbors as ourselves and to be of service to those in need. The Baby Fold’s primary focus is on service to children and families.

Professional standards for the services we provide are defined by organizations and accrediting bodies that represent the professions that are practiced at The Baby Fold. All employees will meet or exceed established professional standards related to our services.

We believe:

  • Each individual is a unique child of God and as such we value and respect each individual.
  • Each employee is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the individuals we serve.
  • We must demonstrate honesty, integrity, and competence in order to earn the trust of the individuals we serve.
  • Children and families whom we serve deserve our very best efforts in delivering the highest quality of service.
  • People are capable of positive change and growth and we assist children and families in more fully realizing their potential.
  • Preventive services and the earliest intervention possible provide the best opportunity for successful outcomes.
  • A healthy family unit is the best environment in which children can learn and develop and in the best interest of each child, we will foster the development of such environments to the greatest extent possible.
  • People must develop responsibility and control within their own lives and we support individuals in these efforts.
  • Teamwork and open communication among employees, clients, board members and volunteers is essential to our purpose.
  • Excellent employees, dedicated to a common mission, ensure high quality service.
  • We must foster cooperation among people and organizations that share our mission in our efforts to build safer, healthier and more loving communities.
  • We must be good stewards of funds, physical property and all other assets entrusted to us. .
  • Broad involvement from churches, volunteers, donors and communities is critical in our ministry to children and families.
  • Our ministry includes our employee family and, as such, an obligation to provide a nurturing work environment that assists employees in maintaining a healthy balance in their work and personal lives.
  • Professional growth and development of employees is essential in order to maintain the expertise necessary to best serve children and families.
