DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
INTERN (offered during Fall semesters only)
BASIC FUNCTION: The Development and Public Relations Intern assists the Development and Public Relations department in marketing, public relations, volunteer recruitment, and special event coordination while gaining educational experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Designs informational fliers for Festival of Trees and Wish List.
Edits copy for Festival of Trees advertisements and marketing.
Designs signage for Festival of Trees’ special events.
Updates the Festival of Trees’ website.
Solicits ads for the Festival of Trees.
Participates in meetings of the Festival of Trees Steering Committee and Marketing Committee.
Maintains communication among members of the Festival of Trees Marketing Committee.
Coordinates a special event as part of the Festival of Trees.
Solicits volunteers for the Festival of Trees and the Wish List.
Contributes to quality improvement through active participation in Quality Improvement activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or a relevant field.
Demonstrated skills in developing promotional materials, including the use of computer programs for this purpose.
Demonstrated skills in website maintenance.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to organize efficiently and attend to details.
Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with other agency staff.
Must pass DCFS background checks.
Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce.

INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT: 15-20 hours per week (flexible) during the fall semester
