Part-Time Registered Nurse
BASIC FUNCTION: The Nurse assists in coordination of medical issues, implementation of the medical program for residential children and medical intervention as appropriate for children in the Residential Treatment Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists with assessment and initiation of treatment for illness/injury of children. Administers medications. Coordinates and purchases prescriptions as assigned. Assists with monitoring height/weight and blood pressure records, obtaining lab specimens and the scheduling/transportation of RTC children to medical appointments.
Assists with the initiation and maintenance of all records related to medical issues.
Coordinates medical issues between the nurse, the treatment teams, the medical consultant, and the consulting psychiatrist. Communicates with other medical or health care professionals as needed.
Provides diagnostics/screening of growth, vision, hearing, lead levels, scoliosis, communicable disease and other relevant health concerns.
Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams in the Residential Treatment Center. Serves as back-up for nurse on-call responsibilities.
Demonstrates ongoing personal professional development. Contributes to the professional development of staff at The Baby Fold, and when assigned, to student nurses.
Conducts all activities in accord with children’s rights, with the Nurse Practice Act and all other relevant standards.
Contributes to quality improvement through active participation in Quality Improvement activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets the definition of a mental health professional as defined in Part 231, Medicaid Community Mental Health Service Program.
A registered nurse license pursuant to The Illinois Nursing Act of 1987.
Ability to maintain the safety and well-being of children for whom there is a responsibility.
Must meet DCFS driver eligibility requirements.
Must pass DCFS drug screen and background checks.
Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce.
Ability to communicate effectively with client population.
Ability to work cooperatively with staff within The Baby Fold, as well as with necessary collateral contacts.
Mission-oriented and willing to apply The Baby Fold’s standards and beliefs to the performance of job duties.
WORK HOURS: 7-11 A.M., Monday-Friday (hours negotiable); pro-rated benefits available.
