Hiring: Development Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the input of all information into Raiser’s Edge donor database to insure current and accurate information is available for donor, volunteer, adoptive parent and employee communication and recognition
  • Tracks results of development efforts by generating routine and special reports for analysis
  • Provides analysis of reports for trends, quality improvement efforts, cost efficiencies, and new opportunities
  • Balances fund totals with finance department to produce a monthly total of donations
  • Conducts queries as needed for mailing lists, donor and volunteer communication and recognition, and fundraising efforts

  • Receives and records cash and memorial/honor donations
  • Generates pledge reminders and personal thank you letters for all donations

  • Conducts research and prospective work to identify new donors or current donors who may have greater capacity to partner with The Baby Fold for annual, major or planned gifts.
  • Develops strategies for prospect move management and prospect assignments for major, planned and special giving campaigns working closely with the Special Events Coordinator for existing event opportunities  and VP of DPR
  • Recognizes donors in a manner consistent with agency policy and the donor’s request
  • Maintains schedule for current and existing grant applications.
  • Coordinates the writing and submission for grants and special funding requests
  • Researches and identifies potential new sources of corporate and foundation gifts
  • Serves as an ambassador of The Baby Fold by presenting a positive, professional, knowledgeable and caring image to our donors, Board and the public
  • Anticipates potential problems regarding Development and Public Relations issues and utilizes constructive problem-solving methods
  • Contributes to quality improvement through active participation in Quality Improvement activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of three years of prior office management and/or development experience
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office software programs and maintenance of records, statistics, and databases
  • Experienced with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software preferred. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to organize efficiently, establish priorities and attend to details. Willing and able to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
  • Must pass DCFS background checks.  Valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle with adequate insurance to perform business errands for The Baby Fold.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with other agency staff
  • Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce

  • Reception: Serves as the front person for the department: greeting visitors, handling phone calls, and fulfilling general requests for information
  • Communication: Provides assistance with written communication such as donor correspondence, press releases, and other communication as needed.  Coordinate small in-house mailings, Proof reading  Prepares and disseminates meeting notices, minutes and information to attendees.

  • Must meet the definition of a mental health professional (MHP) as defined in Part 132, Medicaid Community Mental Health Service Program. Qualified mental health professional (QMHP) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling and guidance, or a related field and successful completion of a practicum and/or internship which includes a minimum of 1,000 hours or has one year of clinical experience under the supervision of a qualified mental health professional; or is a licensed social worker holding a master’s degree with two years of experience in mental health services.  Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous trauma treatment experience in art, music, or dance therapy preferred.
  • Experience with children/adolescents with special needs preferred.  Experience with Medicaid billing preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to apply the principles of child welfare and mental health treatment to specific cases.
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours when necessary.
  • Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population.   Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce.  Ability to communicate effectively with client population.  Ability to work cooperatively with staff within The Baby Fold, as well as with necessary collateral contacts.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:   

  • The Residential Treatment Specialist provides care and supervision for children enrolled in the residential treatment program.  
  • Creates a positive living environment for children, assesses individual treatment needs of children, assists in the development of individual treatment plans, implements treatment plans as approved by the interdisciplinary team, evaluates outcomes of treatment interventions, and ensures the safety of children through constant supervision.
