About The Baby Fold

ACCREDITATION & INNOVATION

The Baby Fold is a not-for-profit organization affiliated with The United Methodist Church and is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The Baby Fold receives funding for its services through purchase of service contracts with DCFS, the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Illinois State Board of Education, local school districts, United Way of McLean County, Medicaid, corporate and foundation grants, and private sources. The Baby Fold is a certified provider of Medicaid Community Mental Health Services. Hammitt School is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education as a non-public school serving special education students and is accredited by the North Central Association for Colleges and Schools.

The Baby Fold is accredited through the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families Services, Inc. (COA). COA is an independent not-for-profit organization whose standards are based on the consensus of “the best practice” of hundreds of human service agencies in the United States and other countries. The accreditation process involves an in-depth examination of The Baby Fold’s personnel, safety, fiscal and program management.

The Baby Fold is also accredited by the United Methodist Association’s EAGLE program. EAGLE stands for Educational Assessment Guidelines Leading toward Excellence. EAGLE program completion signifies that The Baby Fold meets and strives to exceed legal, financial, ethical and clinical standards for services and operation.

The Baby Fold is a member of the Child Care Association of Illinois, the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development of the Bloomington-Normal Area, the Child Welfare League of America and is a charter member of the United Way of McLean County. Hammitt School is a member of the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC).

More than one thousand United Methodist Churches and members of their congregations support our work through special offerings, benevolent allocations and individual gifts. Because of these contacts over the years, many individuals leave portions of their estate to our endowment fund to perpetuate their interest and support.

Denominational sponsorship never has limited The Baby Fold in its scope of concern or general operation. Application processes for employees as well as for those seeking our services are administered according The Baby Fold’s Equal Opportunity Program and are not offered or withheld on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, age, disability, marital status, military status, citizenship status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
