Family Support Services provides prevention-focused
programs and services for families with children that
may be at risk for abuse or neglect. Community-based
and home-based support and services are available. These
programs are funded through a variety of sources, including
the United Way of McLean County, the Illinois Department
of Children and Family Services, and the Illinois Department
of Human Services.
All of the Family Support Services are provided free
of charge to families that voluntarily desire the services
to strengthen their families. Services provided include
counseling, case management, referral to other services,
advocacy, mentoring, support, service coordination and
respite.
Prevention and early intervention are the focus of Family
Support Services. The best approach to prevent unnecessary
out-of-home placements of children is to work with at
risk families before they are in crisis.
Adoption/Subsidized Guardianship Preservation is a program
available to any family with a child under 18 years
of age who is presenting a special challenge and joined
the family through adoption or subsidized guardianship.
Healthy Start is a home visiting program for new parents,
providing education and encouragement in their parental
role as their child’s first and most important
teacher.
Family Services Initiative provides counseling and case
management services to families that are determined
to be at risk for abusing or neglecting their children.
It is a short-term program that assists families in
accessing the community resources they need to provide
for their families.
Project Choices provides counseling and case management
services to teenagers who are under the guardianship
of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
and are new or expectant parents.
Family Solutions provides casework, support, counseling,
education, advocacy and mentoring services to families
that have a high risk for abuse and or neglect.
